France keeps a relatively short list of eleven public holidays ("jours fériés") each year, most rooted in Catholic tradition alongside a handful of secular civic dates like Labour Day and Bastille Day. Unusually, French law doesn't guarantee a day off for most of these holidays that fall on a weekend — there's no automatic "in-lieu" Monday off as in many English-speaking countries. Alsace-Moselle is the one region with two extra religious holidays not observed elsewhere in France. Below is the complete 2026 calendar.
